Kathryn obtained her bachelor of science degree in nursing at San Francisco State University in 1977. Certified in public health, and a prior coronary care nurse,she became interested in midwifery during the pregnancy and home birth of her first son twenty six years ago.
Inspired by her own empowering and gentle birth,she started teaching childbirth preparation classes, provided doula labor support, worked for several years as a clinical nurse specialist at a local hospital's perinatal unit, including work as a labor nurse at a state licensed birth center, and voluntered in the community as a nursing mother's consultant.
She graduated from the University of San Francisco's Certified Nurse Midwifery program in 1986 and has been providing maternity care services and home site birth assistance to families continuously since.
She is the mother of two sons, lives in Burlingame with Tom, her husband of thirty years, and gardens and hikes in her spare time.
Kathryn enjoys assisting women achieve a healthy personalized birth experience in the comfort and safety of their own homes.
